The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is conducting an environmental investigation and potential cleanup activities at two areas of concern (AOC) located at the former Youngstown Municipal Airport (YMA) near Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio as part of the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) Program.
A portion of the former YMA property was previously owned by the United States Government, specifically by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). In 1977, the DOD property was transferred to the City of Youngstown, Ohio. The name of the airport was formally changed to Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport (YWRA), when on January 1, 1992, the Western Reserve Port Authority assumed operations from the city of Youngstown. Because DOD no longer owns this property, the property is considered a FUDS.
