2023 Recreation Season
All dates listed below are tentative. The status or dates of the events are always subject to change.
April 21, 2023: Opening day for Corps operated campground, Holmes Bend, at Green River Lake.
Reservations for this campground can be made at www.Recreation.gov, or by calling 1-877-444-6777, or be seeing the Park Attendant. Reservations can now be made the same day as arrival. You must have a reservation before setting up on a campsite; reserved campsites will no longer be marked!
Fees: $18 for primitive sites, $24 for electric only sites and $28 for water and electric sites.
April 21, 2023: Opening of Corps of Engineers Visitor Center on Weekends.
The Visitor will begin staying open on weekends and will be open 7 days a week from 7:30am - 5:00pm EST.
May 12, 2023: Opening day for Corps operated campgrounds, Smith Ridge and Pikes Ridge, at Green River Lake.

May 13, 2023: Friends of Green River Lake “I’m A Dam Runner 5K”

August 12, 2023: Annual Kid's Fishing Derby.
A day where local kids of all ages can come out and fish for free! All equipment is supplied, no registration is necessary. Prizes are given to kids who catch the most and biggest fish! Location: Green River Lake State Park shoreline near the new fishing pier.
November 01, 2022-August 31, 2023: 37th Annual Lake Shore Cleanup (Virtual)
Take an opportunity during this time to help us cleanup the lake shore. This event is being held virtually again this year, meaning you can participate whenever is most convenient for you. Supplies and ideas on locations to go can be found in the Corps Visitor Center. More supply stations will be available in the spring in summer as areas open for the season. Requirements: signed volunteer form and 2 photos of yourself (1. Cleaning up trash 2. Disposing of the trash). For every full bag of litter brought in, participants will be entered into a prize drawing.
September 10, 2023: Closing day for Corps operated campground, Smith Ridge, at Green River Lake.
September 15th - November 1st: Drawdown of lake 1/2'.
September 24, 2023: Closing day for Corps operated campground, Pikes Ridge, at Green River Lake.
September 30, 2023: Annual Duck Blind Drawing at Green River Lake Visitor Center.
The drawing will be held at the Green River Lake Corps of Engineers office off KY 55, approximately 7 miles south of Campbellsville. Registration is 9 a.m. Eastern time with the drawing at 10 a.m.
Hunters may construct a permanent blind or use a boat or portable blind, but each blind site must be permanently pinned with a permanent marker identifying permit holders for the site. Those hunters selected hold first rights for use of the blind site, but these blinds sites open to public use if the selected hunters are not in the blinds by 30 minutes before shooting time.
October 7, 2023: Fishing with A Veteran Event.
Our Veterans have done so much for our country. As a way to give back to them and say Thank You for their service, we'd like to take them fishing. Veterans and fisherman are asked to pre-register before the event. The event will take place at the Holmes Bend Boat Ramp.
October 20-21, 2023: Holmes Bend Campground Fall Festival.
A day of fun filled Fall/Halloween themed events within the campground. Lots of games and activities followed trick or treating and by best decorated campsite contests and best costume contests. More info to come later in the year.
October 22, 2023: Closing day for Corps operated campground, Holmes Bend, at Green River Lake.
November 1st - December 1st: Drawdown of lake continues 6 1/2' to winter elevation.
