LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families on Veterans Day, November 11. There are more than 2,200 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide .

The fee waiver requires only verbal confirmation of service. In the Louisville District, this fee waiver applies at boat ramps operated by the Corps at Barren River, Carr Creek, Green River, Nolin River and Rough River lakes, all in Kentucky. The waiver does not apply to camping or specialized facilities. USACE does not charge entrance fees to its parks. Other agencies that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver.

The Corps invites veterans, active and reserve service members, and their families this Veterans Day to launch a boat or just spend some time together enjoying the outdoors free of charge.

It’s estimated that 90 percent of the USACE-operated recreation areas are within 50 miles of metropolitan areas offering diverse outdoor activities for all ages close to home.
