Beginning with the 2011 camping season, site availability at many Louisville District campgrounds will differ from previous years. 

To increase campground efficiency and provide better service for those campsites that are open, portions of Barren River, Green River, Nolin River, and Rough River Lake campgrounds may be closed during non-peak periods throughout the spring, summer and fall.  If all open sites are filled or reserved then closed portions may be opened for a short period on a first-come, first-served basis to accommodate additional campers.  At Barren River Lake this further means that campers may not be able to reserve certain sites for longer than the weekend (Friday through Sunday) in some portions of the campground during non-peak periods throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

Currently, the only campgrounds affected by the changes are those at Barren River, Green River, Nolin River and Rough River lakes.  Additional site closures or openings may be included during the camping season.   No changes are planned at this time for the Corps-managed campgrounds at Buckhorn or Carr Creek lakes.
