Public meeting for former Lockbourne Air Force Base Landfill to be held April 28

LOCKBOURNE, Ohio – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be holding a public meeting to discuss the Proposed Plan for the former Lockbourne Air Force Base (AFB) Landfill, a formerly used defense site located in Columbus, Ohio, Thursday, April 28 at the Hamilton Township Community Center, 6400 Lockbourne Road in Lockbourne at 7:30 p.m.

USACE, in coordination with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, has completed their environmental investigation of the former landfill and is proposing to clean up the site. 

USACE has been soliciting public comments on the proposal since April 21 and is accepting comments until May 21. Public comments received during this period will be considered in the final decision-making process for the former Lockbourne AFB Landfill. Comments should be sent to Mr. Brooks Evens, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, CELRL-ED-E-E, P.O. Box 59, Louisville, KY 40201.

The Proposed Plan and other pertinent documents of the investigation are available for public review at the Columbus Metropolitan Library – Southeast Branch, 3980 South Hamilton Road, Groveport, OH 43125.
