Rough River Lake may reach 534 Feet

Published April 27, 2011

Rough River Lake, Ky. – Heavy rains have caused Rough River Lake to significantly exceed record pool. Based on tonight’s (April 27) rainfall and runoff estimates, the lake may reach 534 feet – 10 feet above flood pool and 39 feet above summer pool. The reservoir is expected to maintain this elevation for a week or more.

Residents with property on the lake shore will see water levels much greater than ever experienced and are advised to take measures to protect property below 534 feet.

Residents living downstream will continue to see greater amounts of water. If the maximum amount of predicted rain is received in the area, spillway flow and planned gate operations could cause up to two feet of river rise downstream.

Additional rainfall will cause these estimates to be increased.
