“It’s an honor to be here today celebrating two important milestones: 75 continuous years of weather observations and over 100 years of hydrological observations. Both observations serve as key components to the engineering success on the Ohio River System,” said Waylon Humphrey USACE Operations Division chief. “I want to thank the Louisville National Weather Service for not only presenting this recognition, but for their continued partnership as we work together to achieve our common goals.”

McAlpine Locks and Dam was awarded the "National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Honored Institution Award for 75 years of Weather Observations in cooperation with the National Weather Service" and the "World Meteorological Organization Award for more than 100 years of Hydrological Observations."
