LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY –The Army Corps of Engineers Monroe Lake, Bloomington, Indiana, will be holding the first annual “Kid’s Fishing Tournament” on June 10, 2017. The event will be held at the Monroe Lake Tailwater off Valley Mission Road. The tournament is for ages 16 and under.

Participants arrive at 8 a.m. for check-in followed by a water safety presentation. The tournament starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Kids under the age of 13 are required to wear a life jacket, and the life jackets will be provided.

Registration and RSVP is required by June 1 so life jackets can be obtained in the right sizes.

Please RSVP by calling 812-824-9136.

Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, most fish, and smallest fish. First place will receive a new rod and reel, and 2nd place and 3rd place will receive fishing tackle. Tyler Blankenship, Army Corps of Engineers Monroe Park Ranger said, “This is a great opportunity to teach parents and participants how important water safety is when you are in or around the water. You can still have fun fishing and wear your life jacket at the same time.”

A special thanks goes to Dick’s sporting goods for giving supplies to support the event.
