Wickets at Olmsted
Installation of all 12 wicket gates which comprise the navigable pass monolith 1 structure was successfully completed September 25, 2014. The exhaustive planning by WGA (Contractor) and USACE staff paid off when this critical activity was completed in less than 48 hours or almost twice the anticipated production rate. In total there are 12 monoliths, or 144 wicket gates, that make up the navigable pass of the Olmsted Dam which not only will establish the project's navigation pool when completed but are also hinged and can be laid flat to accommodate open river transit during periods of extended high water elevation.
