Rough River Lake Dam work to be discussed during public meeting April 18

ROUGH RIVER LAKE, KY. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will host a public meeting to discuss the dam remediation project on the Rough River Lake Dam, Falls of Rough, Kentucky.

The meeting will be held:
Date:  Thursday, April 18, 2019
Time:  6 p.m. Central Time
Place:  Rough River State Resort Park Lodge,
450 Lodge Road, Falls of Rough, KY 40119
Room: Grayson and Breckinridge rooms

The meeting will include the Rough River Dam Remediation project status and a briefing on the remediation process.  The team is currently designing a new outlet works system through the left abutment that will be constructed in addition to the continuous cutoff wall that has been previously discussed.  The new outlet works will consist of a control tower, tunnel, stilling basin, and associated features.  As previously stated, the early drawdown that was previously planned for 2019 will not be taking place and the lake is currently being managed per its normal operating schedule.  Possible future impacts to lake levels will be evaluated as part of the revised project design.  The upcoming phases of work will be discussed by dam safety experts and include cost and schedule impacts.

Meeting Agenda:
Opening remarks by Diane Stratton, Rough River Lake park manager
Staff introductions
Dam remediation progress, findings, and future plans
Questions and answers session
