A six-spotted tiger beetle spotted at J. Edward Roush Lake
A six-spotted tiger beetle spotted at J. Edward Roush Lake in Huntington, Ind. (USACE photo by DJ Unger) This beetle gets its name from the six small white spots on the beetle's metallic-green to metallic-blue-green elytra. The beetle can be found in wooded areas in sunlit patches clear of undergrowth such as dirt paths and fallen logs where they hunt caterpillars, ants, spiders, and many other kinds of arthropods.
