EMAP certification for Louisville District
George Minges, Emergency Operations, discusses the Emergency Management Accreditation Program during a meeting Feb. 15, 2017 as Senior Oversight Group members sign the final documents for EMAP certification. The SOG provided guidance and oversight of the district emergency management program and the EMAP process. The SOG will ensure compliance of the related EMAP activities within divisions, offices or programs. Louisville District met the EMAP certification requirement of 90 percent during the completion of the on-site assessment. The district is working to tweak the program to reach a 100 percent rating when submitting the final requirements by Feb. 28, 2017. Certification is expected in late April. Lt. Col. Robert Newbauer summarized the EMAP certification's intent, "The big piece is--if an emergency happens, who would do what."
