Deputy District Engineer/Deputy for Project Management

Linda Murphy started as the Deputy District Engineer and Deputy for Project Management at the Louisville District March 8, 2015. As the Deputy for Project Management she is responsible for the business management of the district and has program responsibility for the district’s civil works and military missions.

Ms. Murphy began her government career in 1978 as a civil engineer student trainee in the Louisville District and has spent most of her career with the Louisville District.  Prior positions within the Louisville District include civil engineer in the Structural Section of the Engineering Division Design Branch, civil engineer in the Civil Section of the Engineering Division Design Branch, Chief - Plan Formulation Branch in Planning Division, navigation project manager  and flood control project manager in the Civil Project Management Branch, Chief – Civil Project Management & Programs Branch, Chief – Planning Branch, Chief – Military Project Management Branch, Assistant Chief – Planning Programs, and Project Management Division.

Ms. Murphy has filled key critical positions in a temporary capacity, including the Deputy Commander for the Louisville District and the Chief of the Civil Works Integration Division for the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

In 2012, Ms. Murphy deployed to Afghanistan for 21 months and served as the Chief – Water & Infrastructure Branch and Afghan National Security Forces Program Manager for the Transatlantic South District and the Transatlantic Afghanistan District.

Ms. Murphy is a 1982 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering and received her Professional Engineer’s License in 1988 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  She is a member of Chi Epsilon and the Society of American Military Engineers.

Ms. Murphy is married to Timothy C. Murphy of Searsport, Maine. They have two daughters.
