Lt. Col. Kevin R. Lewis

A native of Atlanta, Lt. Col. Kevin Lewis assumed responsibility as the deputy commander of the Louisville District in July 2018.

Lt. Col. Lewis received his Army commission into the Engineer Regiment in December 2001 from Jackson State University through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology.

His military education includes the U. S Army Command and General Staff College, Engineer Captain's Career and Officer Basic courses, Ranger Course, Sapper Leader Course and Airborne School.

Lt. Col. Lewis served in several command and staff positions, including aide-de-camp to the 54th Chief of Engineers in Washington, DC; Plans and Policy director (CJ5) for the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan; Operations officer for 10th Support Group (Regional) in Okinawa, Japan; 158th Infantry Brigade executive officer at Camp Shelby, Mississippi; 3-315th Engineer Battalion at Camp Shelby; 814th Multi-Role Bridge Company commander at Fort Polk, Louisiana; Task Force engineer for 2-8th Infantry Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas;  Company E, 2-8th Inf. Bn. company executive officer at Fort Hood; and platoon leader for 2nd Platoon, Company C, 588th Engineer Battalion at Fort Hood.

He deployed to Iraq in 2003 and 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and to Afghanistan in 2010 and 2017 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His awards and decorations include:  the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with bronze oak leaf cluster), Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with bronze oak leaf cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, and Sapper Tab.

He is married and has two children.
