CARR CREEK LAKE, YEAR 2001

Standard Water Quality Monitoring

Daily Tailwater Temperatures

Tailwater temperatures are taken daily for comparison to state quidelines for downstream water temperatures.

Water Chemistry/Dissolved Oxygen/Temperature/Turbidity

Chemical water quality samples are collected at the damsite, each inflow, and tailwater station 4 times per year during thermal stratification.

Physical data are collected at each lake, inflow, and tailwater station 4 times per year during thermal stratification.

Temperature and dissolved oxygen profile data are collected at the damsite on a bi-weekly basis beginning in mid-May and continuing until thermal destratification and complete mixing of the water column in fall. The data are used in the adjustment of reservoir water release elevations to regulate downstream water temperature, for ready evaluation of general water quality conditions in the reservoir, and for other water quality studies.

Biological Parameters

Phytoplankton and chlorophyll a samples are collected at each lake station 4 times per year during thermal stratification.

Macroinvertebrate samples are collected from inflow and tailwater stations 1 time per year in the fall.

Sediments

Sediment samples are collected for priority pollutant analysis from each lake station on a 5-year rotational basis. Sediment samples were last collected in Carr Creek Lake in 2001.
