The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers developed a vegetation plan and supplied a draft to the Indiana State Historic Preservation Officer (Indiana SHPO) on December 3, 2021, for their review and comment. The SHPO responded in a letter dated January 3, 2022, that the staff of the Indiana SHPO has conducted an analysis of the vegetation plan. After reviewing the plan, the Indiana SHPO found the plan acceptable and they appreciated the effort to preserve, restore, and enhance the natural landscape of the historic Central Canal. The Indiana SHPO had no further comments regarding the vegetation plan at this time.
