  • Corps hosting virtual workshop for William H. Harsha Lake Master Plan Update

    USACE Louisville District has extended the public comment period until July 30, 2020 and will be hosting a virtual workshop to provide the public with an opportunity to comment.
  • Scheduled maintenance underway at McAlpine Locks and Dam

    Due to scheduled maintenance and repairs, the north (1,200 ft.) chamber at McAlpine Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Louisville, Ky., will be closed from June 15 through November 13, 2020 for miter gate replacement. During this time all traffic will be passed through the south (1,200 ft.) chamber. Starting around June 20, dredging operations of the lower approach will also be conducted. This will include a total river closure during nighttime hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m from July 3 through July 7.
  • Scheduled maintenance to begin at John T. Myers Locks and Dam July 8

    Due to scheduled maintenance and repairs, the main (1,200 ft.) chamber at John T. Myers Locks and Dam on the Ohio River at Mt. Vernon, Indiana, will be closed from July 8 through September 11. The auxiliary (600 ft.) chamber will be used for lockages during this period.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District’s Corps-managed day use recreational areas (such as hiking trails, tailwater fishing areas, restrooms and small picnic shelters with limited capacity) will reopen Friday, May 15 in alignment with the State of Indiana’s reopening plan.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District’s Corps-managed day use recreational areas (such as hiking trails, tailwater fishing areas, restrooms and small picnic shelters with limited capacity) will reopen Friday, May 15 in alignment with the State of Ohio’s reopening plan.
  • Louisville District campgrounds to remain closed until further notice

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District’s Corps-managed campgrounds in Kentucky will remain closed through at least May 31 in the interest of public safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While an official date for the reopening of campgrounds and day use areas has not yet been determined, effective today all campground reservations will be cancelled for the month of May.

    In the interest of public safety due to COVID-19 concerns, and in accordance with Center for Disease Control recommendations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District will be closing all Corps-managed day use recreational areas and associated public facilities (such as beaches, picnic shelters and restrooms) and postponing the opening of all campgrounds until further notice.
