Release no. 10-017

The Shoreline Management Plan for Barren River, Nolin River, and Rough River lakes is currently undergoing a periodic review and update.  A draft of the plan will be available for public review and comment for a 30-day period beginning Sept. 1, 2010.  The draft plan and a summary of substantive changes being made to the plan are available for download at http://bit.ly/lakesmp.  Printed copies of the plan and summary are also available at the Corps’ project offices at each lake.

Park managers and rangers will be available at each project office between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sept. 9 and Sept. 14, and between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and noon on Sept. 25 to discuss the draft plan.  Only comments submitted in writing will be considered in the final revision of the plan.  All comments must be post marked no later than midnight Sept. 30, 2010, or hand-delivered to one of the project offices before close of business on the 30th.  Once the plan is posted for public review, a moratorium will be placed on the acceptance of applications for new facilities that are governed by the plan.  The moratorium will remain in effect until all comments received during the public comment period are addressed, and an approved plan is published.

For further information, please contact one of the project offices.
