Col. Luke Leonard assumes command of district July 14

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District hosted a change of command ceremony on Thursday, July 14 at the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville, Ky. Col. Luke Leonard assumed command from Col. Keith Landry. Leonard will oversee district operations for a three- year assignment. Leonard's most recently served as chief of operations and plans division at Fort Knox Human Resources Command. Leonard is a native of Cincinnati and brings a distinguished 24-year Army career to serve as the new Louisville District commander. He served overseas with operational deployments in Panama, Kosovo and Iraq.

The district workload includes civil works and military construction and environmental clean-up programs as well as 20 reservoirs, navigation and regulatory permitting. Approximately 1,400 people are employed by the district in a five-state area - Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and a small portion of Tennessee.
